OUR SOLAR SYSTEM

THE SUN

The star around which the Earth orbits. A Star is any of the various types of hot, gaseous, self-luminous celestial bodies whose energy is derived from nuclear-fusion reactions.

Personified by Helios, god of the sun. Helios was a Titan and the son of Hyperion and Theia (Hesiod). Brother to Eos [goddess of the Dawn] and Selene [goddess of the Moon]. He was also the guardian of oaths and the god of gift of sight. Read more on the planets

Personified by Selene, goddess of the Moon. Selene was a Titan and the daughter of Hyperion and Theia (Hesiod). Sister to Eos [goddess of the Dawn] and Helios [god of the Sun]. Selene & Helios were responsible for controlling the movements of the sun and moon across the sky. Read more on the planets
