KARUNA WORLDWIDE IS THRILLED TO INTRODUCE YOU TO
COLBY, THE PSYCHIC REBEL!
Q&A WITH COLBY-PSYCHIC REBEL
Sheena (Founder, Karuna Worldwide): Psychic Rebel Colby, I’m very excited to interview you for Karuna Worldwide! I’d like to jump right in and start by asking you at what age did you begin to hear, see or sense things beyond what would be considered “normal”?
Psychic Rebel: Hi Sheena, thank you, really honored and excited to be a part of Karuna Worldwide! My first vivid experience was at the age of four. This is such a clear memory of mine that it stays with me still today. I had just been put to bed by my mom. As I was lying in bed, my grandfather stood next to me and started talking to me. He told me to “get out of bed and go tell mommy”. So I did as he said.
My mom was in the living room with a friend and I told her. She just stared at me and said, “Who told you to say this”? And I said “Grandpop”. I do remember my mom starting to cry. Later I learned that my grandfather had passed away a week prior to that night. I didn’t know because my family didn’t have children at funerals, so I hadn’t been told. It was an amazing gift from my grandfather of validation that has always allowed me to trust spirit.
Sheena: When you realized the “force was strong” in you, in that the images and messages you were receiving became undeniable, how did you explain your experiences and beliefs to your friends and family?
Psychic Rebel: For many years I tried to deny my path of working for spirit. I became a tax manager at a CPA firm. I was studying for the CPA exam. It’s a certification here (like a license) and through all of this, spirit was always talking to me, but I tried to ignore it. Towards the end, I prayed to God, "Please let me pass the last part of the CPA exam and I promise I will serve Spirit". Well, I took that test. Last part I needed. I would be certified. Got the results, and failed. So I lost it all.
I asked Spirit, "Why?" And they responded, “Because you can’t negotiate with us. Now go and serve”. The very next day I did my first paid professional reading and started the path in explaining it to my family. Now my mom was like, “It’s about time”. My grandmom, although skeptical by nature, was fully supportive. My best friend Renea was by far my biggest cheerleader! She kept pushing me each step of the way to keep going for it until I finally quit my accounting job and pursued the work of spirit full time!
Sheena: Was it difficult for you when you decided to transition into full-time Psychic Mediumship work and “come out” of the proverbial psychic closet?
Psychic Rebel: I feel like I never really had a “choice” to serve Spirit. I was literally a “chosen” one. And when you are chosen, you cannot escape. They will haunt you (no pun intended) until you surrender and follow the path to help others. It was so hard for me to face the fear of judgement of others by changing careers.
I was so afraid people would think I was crazy and I felt like an utter failure for not passing that CPA exam, but I was on the wrong path, so how could I have passed it? Yet, the moment I started working with Spirit, it all unfolded. Quickly and with passion! I LOVE what I do and I spend a lot of time promoting soul purpose and taking chances whenever I can because I KNOW it can be done and it leads to happiness and fulfillment!
Sheena: Psychic Rebel – everyone loves that name. How did it come about?
Psychic Rebel: Awwwwh, the Psychic Rebel name. Well, honestly, I heard it from Spirit. So I was with a friend and we were talking and I said “Oh, I just heard Psychic Rebel” how funny is that? And she was like “Oh that’s cool!” Then it hit me, that was Spirit telling me who I was! I’m a Rebel in a few ways:
1. I tried to resist this work. I hid in the accounting closet and so I rebelled against Spirit to pursue this work.
2. Then even after entering the industry, I’m not like any other Psychic, as I’m sure you can attest to Sheena. I’m a straight shooter. I don’t read tarot, or palms or tea leaves. I have direct conversation with Spirit and then I give it directly to clients in a very sincere but honest and direct manner and if allowed, a bit of humor.
I not only connect to Spirit but I connect to the soul that I am reading for and I feel like I am normal. I look normal, talk pretty normal (except for that Jersey accent), that makes me a Rebel. And I feel like we can all relate to a Rebel.
Sheena: So your name is Colby-Psychic Rebel, does that mean you consider yourself more of a psychic than a medium?
Psychic Rebel: I don’t really consider myself more of a Psychic than Medium, but maybe Spirit does as they gave me the name Psychic Rebel! LOL! I feel equally strong in both areas and allow Spirit to use me for each client per what information they feel that client needs to achieve healing, hope & closure.
Sheena: I only discovered you last year (2014) through Lisa Williams’ Sunday Service, called “Sunday Spirit Connections” which was streaming online at the time. Were you always involved in Psychic Mediumship or any other spiritual work prior to training with Lisa at LWISSD?
Psychic Rebel: Prior to LWISSD, I did have some training, but mostly, I followed my own guidance. Once I found Lisa, she really saw in me the connection I had and what I was supposed to do with it. She gave me the structure and opportunity to really grow my gift to the level you see today, so for her and the school, I am eternally grateful. She’s an incredible teacher and now that I teach myself, can see why the drive and passion is there to help those finding who they are in this industry.
Sheena: Now, you use the word “Spirit” during your readings and conversations about Mediumship. When you use that term, are you referring to Spirit Guides, Angels or Souls who have passed on?
Psychic Rebel: When I say the word “Spirit” I am always talking about a dead person. I don’t talk to Angels and I may connect to Guides, but for me the word Spirit refers to a living person who has crossed.
Sheena: So, I spoke with you a couple weeks ago and we both had a laugh at how busy you are! I’d like to share with everyone the main ways they can connect with you. Let’s start with your Psychic and Mediumship readings. What’s the best way to book a reading with you?
Psychic Rebel: The best way to get more info about me is to visit my website www.psychicrebel.com. On my site you can find out a bit about me, see my readings on video or hear one of the radio shows or book a session directly online with me. I do skype readings as well as phone readings, so it works out great for those outside of the Los Angeles area. :) For anybody who loves twitter, my handle is @psychicrebel and I have a facebook page Colby-Psychic Rebel.
Sheena: You’re also a Certified Master Teacher with LWISSD. What kind of classes/workshops have you held? Anything new on the horizon?
Psychic Rebel: As a Master Teacher I am currently leading advanced Mediumship circles. These are intensive classes that work on craft and connection to Spirit. I also want to do workshops and online classes so I’m working on that now! I may even start a mentoring circle online through LWISSD directly!
Sheena: Now, you’ve been a guest many times on Calling Out with Susan Pinsky and even hosted it when Susan was out of town. It’s such a fun show! Susan has a no-holds-barred sense of humour and the readings you give callers are always impressive. I love it so much, I subscribed to the show on iTunes and SoundCloud. Will you be on Calling Out again?
Psychic Rebel: Oh yes! I love Susan and Calling Out! I feel honored to be a part of the show on a regular basis and the great thing about is that anyone can subscribe (for free) and they can download past episodes as well to catch all of my readings. I’m also starting my own podcast soon! It’s going to be called Colby-Psychic Rebel in which I dive into lessons and messages about intuition, spirit and our connection to the “Divine”.
Sheena: Let’s talk live shows. I know you’ve shared the stage with other Mediums before to deliver messages from Spirit. Do you have any upcoming events we should know about?
Psychic Rebel: I’m excited to announce that I will be reuniting with my good friends and mediums Cindy Kaza and A.J. Barrera for a live event on June 25th in Los Angeles, CA. We had such a positive response to our last show we were eager to get together again to serve spirit. I also recently did an interview in which I talk about people finding their soulmate or settling! Sheena: On another note, you have a very cool website. I love your blog. You write very beautiful stories. I loved the one titled “Superwoman is Sick”. It speaks to a lot of people, I think; the way we sidetrack ourselves from our deepest desires. What inspired you to start writing?
Psychic Rebel: Thanks! Yeah, I love the guy who helped build my site! I’ve always loved writing. I stopped for many years while in accounting so it really goes to show that when you are on the wrong path you lose your passions. But since committing myself to spirit and helping others, the writing came back. I love sharing the deep inner stories with people because I feel they really do show that we are all connected. We are all one with the same problems, issues, and insecurities.
Sheena: Well Colby, thank you so much for taking the time to do this interview with me! I hope to connect with you again in the near future. Is there anything you would like to say to our readers before you go?
Psychic Rebel: Thanks Sheena! I absolutely LOVED being a part of Karuna Worldwide and love what you are doing as well with bringing awareness to others! I guess the main thing I want to say to people is follow your dreams, figure out what your purpose is and pursue it! Life is so short and we find ourselves wasting precious time on things that don’t make us happy. Make yourself happy. :)
